The free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited is set to launch right around the corner on Aug. 4 for DDO VIPs and Aug. 6 for everyone else, but until those dates arrive, Turbine has opened the Unlimited beta to all active subscribers.

While the team finishes the final test run of the F2P model, DDO
players with paid accounts in good standing can now access the Lamannia
server or post on the beta forums. These paid accounts will convert to
VIP when DDO Unlimited launches, giving subscribers access to the early
Aug. 4 launch date.

Another
weekend full of action packed adventures in Atreia has passed and the
closed beta event #4 has come to an end on Monday, 20th of July (12:00
PM PT, 9:00 PM CEST, 8:00 PM BST). A big thank you again to our eager
beta testers who have been able to get a first glimpse of the Abyss,
Aion’s unique PvPvE zone where the war between Elyos, Asmodians and
Balaur takes place.

We have now established a cease fire, will
go over all the feedback we have received and start plotting the plans
for the continuation of the war in our next beta event starting on
Friday July 31st (12:00 PM PT, 9:00 PM CEST, 8:00 PM BST). The battle
in the Abyss has only just begun – stay tuned for more details as we

PayPal, eBay’s well established but aging mechanism for
online payments, is trying to rebuild itself for a new generation of
online commerce possibilities.

At an event for press and developers on Thursday, PayPal and its
partners described several new programming interfaces that are part of
the company’s upcoming Adaptive Payments Service and showed what
developers can do with them.

For example, Microsoft will use the interface to enable payments
within its forthcoming Azure cloud-computing service. And LiveOps’
on-demand outsourcing service will use it to automatically handle
fluctuating payment amounts and changes to who’s being paid. Finally,
the interface takes PayPal beyond the browser, opening it up for use on
mobile phones, set-top boxes, and other increasingly smart devices…

game developer and operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) announced today that
the closed beta testing of its licensed 3D MMORPG World of Warcraft
will start from July 30 and last for just one week.

Only
players with existing accounts will be allowed to participate in the
tests, and during the test period Netease will not be allowed to charge
fees or permit new registrations.

Global Agenda fans… it’s almost here. The game’s closed beta kicks off tomorrow, but a few lucky gamers in Hi-Rez’s neighborhood actually got a head start today. What does it mean

The addition of the ‘Verified Accounts badge’  to a
twitter profile, users will easily establish what twitter accounts are
‘real’ or authentic, taking the guess work out of
determining if a twitter profile is a spammer, bot, or just a fanatical
celebrity fan who’s started up a ‘non-official’
twitter profile. But with the addition on the “Verified Accounts
badge’ to twitter profiles, it also doesn’t mean the
twitter account is fake.

How does it work

With
this feature, you can easily see which accounts we know are
‘real’ and authentic. It mean twitter has been in contact
with the account holder to ensure that person or identity is
representing and verified that it is approved. But this also
doesn’t mean that twitter verifies who exactly is writing the
tweets.

Twitter is only verifying a small number of account to help with
cases of mistake identity or impersonation. As stated, if a twitter
account doesn’t have a “verified Account Badge’ it
doesn’t mean the account is fake, yet twitter doesn’t have
the capacity to check the millions of accounts currently tweeting.

It’s easy to spot a verified account. The ‘Verified Account badge’ is
located at the very top of the side bar in a twitter account. If the
verified account badge appears anywhere else on a user’s profile
page (e.g. in the avatar or the background) it is not a verified
account. It’s easy to spot a verified account in the ‘Find
People’ section of twitter as it will appear next to their
usernames.

Twitter is starting of verifying well known accounts that have had
problems with impersonation or identity confusions such as popular

figures. Twitter is yet to announce if the verified accounts will be
spread across all account currently active. Due to the cost and tim
required to verify accounts, only a small number are being tested.

Voteswrite is a place to check out, influence and download new music. By voting on which song elements you want to be heard, you help write the music. You can then download the final composed song, carry it around in your pocket and share it with the world… for FREE!

How does it work?

It’s simple! Check out the songs that are open for voting in our Song Showcase. Watch the videos to learn about the different song elements. Then vote on which element you prefer.

Once all the voting closes for a song, a final version composed with the winning elements will be recorded. It then will be available to the entire voteswrite community… for FREE!

Who is voteswrite?

Voteswrite is a project from the minds of Aaron and Ryan. They have been writing and playing music together for almost 15 years, dating back to a southern California ska punk band named Broken Pretzel. As with most song writers, Aaron and Ryan wanted to write music that both they and others would enjoy. Who better to help them do that than the internet community, so voteswrite was born.

Now this is some news we’re most definitely not happy to report. Back in February we told you about Syncplicity, an awesome sync solution that, in our opinion, is far superior to any competing product. In a nutshell, Syncplicity allows users to mirror any folder on a computer (in two clicks) with an always-in-sync online copy, “in the cloud”. Folders can also by synced across computers and shared with anyone in just a few clicks. Features that will only be included in the Pro version are present but documentation states that the beta “will stop working at the end of August 2009.  The same applies to all games created with this beta version.”  Hopefully YoYo Games have put steps in action to ensure that this can not be abused.

The PCSX2 project attempts to allow PS2 code to be executed on your computer, thus meaning you can put a PS2 DVD or CD into your computers drive, and boot it up!

The project has been running for a little over four years now, and since it’s initial release has grown in compatibility. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, it’s current state enables many games to boot and actually go in game, such as the ‘famous’ Final Fantasy X or Devil May Cry 3.
